31 Jul 2008 Jimson Weed is the toxic weed that caused the illness (nauseous and dizzy, and in some cases suffered hallucinations) of six people after it has been cooked into an Indian potato stew few weeks ago in Gaithersburg. Jimson Weed is a type of plant that flourishes in sunny areas that can easily crop up in a home garden and can be mistaken for a cooking ingredient. All parts of the plant are highly toxic especially the seeds. Plants are the best medicine, but it can also be a poison if not used correctly.

We could harvest the root crop but my primary thought in mind is to make a salad out of its greens. It is a very healthy, supplement for those with anemia, so good for the blood, and delicious too. 9 Jul 2008This is one of the first blooms of our sunflower in the field, the first batch.
Almost two months ago my father-in-law gave me a clipping he cut from his daily paper. It was about a 15-year-old girl from the Philippines who was born with severely clubbed feet (club foot is a birth defect where the foot is twisted in, inverted and down, thus the person with clubfeet appear to be walking on the sides of their feet or on their ankles.) and complicated by another birth defect that involves the incomplete development of the spinal cord or its coverings called spina bifida. He thought I might be interested since it is news about “home”. And indeed I was, and I thanked him. That same girl, Jingle Luis, took her first unaided steps Wednesday, July 2 in…
