About herbal meds

There has been confusion in general term “herbal medicine”. The word “medicine” in itself is a broad term simply defined as, “remedy for an illness.” So anything that gives relief for anything that has a healing effect to the body can be called medicine. Not necessarily so with the use of drugs nor the use of plants with drug-like effect. So we read the dictum, “Laughter is the best medicine”. “Exercise is a good medicine.” “A good rest is a medicine for stress.” Hippocrates said, “Let food be your medicine.” The Bible says, “ A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” But too often we hear the work medicine we immediately think of drugs. Herbal medicine is usually referred to as an alternative form of treatment using herbal products instead of drugs.
