This is one of my favorite pictures I shot a week ago. It is so beautiful, full and colorful, and fragrant, even when it is withering. Perhaps it is because of it that the individual petals are showing each beauty it fills my heart even just by looking at the whole flower.

It is beautiful to look up and see the sights above, no? For it was a beautiful day with the sky so refreshingly blue. This is a crooked branch of “malunggay” or moringa that we have on our small yard. The small tree has been part of our meals/viands, our neighbors’ too, as well as tended and healed many cuts and wounds.

Conventional grapes, especially the imported ones, undergo heavy pesticides spraying; to avoid pesticides, choose organic grapes. Look for firm, plump grapes with a whitish bloom, which indicates the freshness. You can store grapes in the refrigerator for a few days in a plastic bag, but don’t wash them until just before you eat them. (excess moisture speeds spoilage). If you don’t plan to eat the whole bunch at once, snip off grape clusters with scissors rather than stripping the vine; this helps keep the remaining grapes from drying out. Chew them well to get the benefit of the skins, and if you find any seeds, eat those too.

Durian is my favourite. When we can’t buy a durian fruit we resort to buy a durian ice cream. Durian is known as the “King of fruits”, a label that can be attributed to its formidable look and overpowering odour. Due to its unusual characteristics, the durian has been referenced or parodied in various cultural mediums.

The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Regarded by some as fragrant, others as overpowering and offensive, the smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust. Other people say that “it smells like hell but it tastes like heaven” but for me and my family “it smells and tastes like heaven.”

We all now reap what they sow. But it is not too late to make a way in preventing worst scenario. We have to plant trees. Here are the tips of planting trees.

Several factors should be considered before selecting the planting site for a palm. If you have a specific type of palm in mind, be sure to consider how the plant will fit in the landscape in 10-15 years, when it reaches its full maturity. Consideration should be made of the type of soil the palms will be planted in. Is it alkaline sand, coral rock, clay, marl, or another soil-type? By knowing the soil-type, it is often possible to predict certain nutrient deficiencies and correct them before you have a problem.

It is much more important that you apply a heavy mulch around the trunk, using wood chips, cypress bark, lawn clippings, etc. This enriches the soil while also reducing the weed competition and reducing water consumption. Watering for the first several months is critical. Never allow the soil to dry out completely. It is also important not to over water. Over watering not only encourages root diseases, but it also discourages the establishment of new roots in the surrounding soil.

Around the globe there are a lot of people doing illegal logging. Wildlife trees should not be touched. They are there for our protection. It is so frustrating to know that illegal loggers do not think about the long term effects of what they are doing. They are just concern of what they can get out of it. Now all of us suffer the consequences. It is not to late to start planting trees or even fruit trees would be great.
