My now fat cat
I have been monitoring the weather and temperature at home and gosh how cold it has been there. The temperature goes from four to negative degrees at the coldest. Animals have their own instincts and defense mechanisms, but I was worried of my cat being left alone outside in the cold weather. More importantly, he will be proned to being run over, God forbid. But now hubby said that he is faring well, and that he, the cat, is getting fat. I am so glad. The time he came to us he was still a kitten and starving to death he was so skinny. I am so glad he is okay.
Cat for company
This was my beloved pet cat that we found on the woods last summer. He made a good garden company, even sometimes he would play with my camote tops. A squash or two were killed but since aiming the garden hose at him, the kitten laid off a bit. He was my constant companion, and it was a pleasure watching him grew. He was my companion during the hurricanes, but shortly after that he was run over. It was very sad and lonely day for me. I missed him, but every time I recall our time together, I would always smile, still missing him. He was my second cat. Third one? Maybe when I go back home.
Cooking rice
There are many varieties of rice, and one way of cooking it is by boiling or steaming. Do you peek when steaming rice? We are supposed to let the cooked rice steam for about 15 minutes or so before opening the lid to not to let the steam out and lower the temperature during cooking. But right after it is cooked, you can peek a little (naughty) and let it steam your face for few seconds, it is good for the skin, makes face smooth and without pimples, and let the facial skin ‘breathe’, unless it is so hot you can’t breath and burn yourself.
Food for long life
A lesson from the world’s oldest man.
The world’s oldest living male recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2007 is celebrating his birthday this day, adding another year to his full 112 years. He is now 113 years old. We know that the Japanese are among the world’s longest living people, but what are they’re ‘secrets’ to long life? It is not a secret at all. Tomoji Tanabe believes that the key to longevity is eating naturally healthy foods, a lot of vegetables and sea food. It reminds me the old age verse about vegetables. He ruled out alcohol drinking. He drinks milk everyday. His discipline made him so healthy that at 113 years of age, he has…
Rhinoplasty procedure
Rhinoplasty. I have been looking into this surgical procedure just like when we want something we would go for the best from an intense research. My cousin who is living in Saudi has undergone Rhinoplasty. Maybe she just wanted to improve her cute looks, especially her nose, that when we met her at home, she was even more beautiful. And she is proud of it. It makes her feel better and confident in herself, the Rhinoplasty improved her self-esteem. Nose surgery, also known as Rhinoplasty or reshaping the nose, is a surgical procedure that improves the appearance and proportion of our nose, enhancing facial harmony and self-confidence. But it is not all about that. Actually Rhinoplasty is also done as…
After Gustav
I am very thankful that hurricane Gustav passed without so much damage here. There are limbs and leaves around that the ground looks so green, aside from the grasses, but other than that, everything is fine. We lost electricity, water and phone service for four days, but even alone in the house, I was fine. I had prepared good for it and we didn’t have problems. I just pray we will be spared from another yet natural drama.
Plants and funny side of life
I have not read so many books whose authors have a very good sense of humor, in fact, I don’t remember reading any yet. But the other day, as I plunged into the first pages of an herbal book, yes about herbs, I kept laughing, not in mockery to the author talking about the serious matter of plants but by his funny wits. He said that when we pick some plants/herbs, the first thing we should do is to be grateful for the harvest and for the herb’s life (which is, for me, right). Do you do that? You may want to consider to leave an offering, like a strand of your hair, a prayer, a song, a story, whatever, for…
Seed supply
Somebody awaken me from my nap. When I opened the door, this is what awaited me:
Seeds worth more than a year’s supply for our garden. According to the National Gardening Bureau slogan that “great gardeners use seed”. Why seeds? Well, it is like raising a living thing right from the start and witness it develop it’s life and beauty. It is also cheaper than those vegetables and herbs that are ready to plant.
