Last year, a sweet friend of mine, the wife of my former boss, diagnosed with a breast cancer. We all get dismayed with the news. All of us were caught by surprise. It was so sudden. We could never tell she was sick. She was very active and full of life. Cancer is a hard disease as is the treatment. She started having chemo and radiation treatments. As she continued to have those treatments, her hair started to fall out. Even though she is a very strong woman, she needed to wear a wig at Divatress in order to feel normal as a woman. All women care about their hair, after all, they are usually the first thing to be seen when we look at someone’s face.
I really appreciate how she managed to get through all the side effects of having those treatments. She fought a good fight. Just last week, she celebrated the completion of her 25th radiation therapy sessions. She looked great and responded very well. We pray that she will fully recover soon. One thing I have learned from cancer is that it is so vital to appreciate the good times in life, even if they are brief family visit or feeling the hug of a loved one. We should try to enjoy the blessings of time and be thankful because each instance is from God.
