I have not have any “skin” encounter with poison ivy. But if you have, here is how to sidestep it:
Within 10 minutes of contact, rinse any exposed skin thoroughly with water, not using soap, as it can spread the plant’s rash-causing oil to the other parts of your body. Washing the clothes you wear immediately also helps in not spreading or re-infecting yourself. Later treatments for the itch and blisters are cold compresses, oral antihistamine, or hyrdrocortisone cream.
